Sigríður studied dance at JSB-Jazz and classical ballet at Klassíski Listdansskólinn from 1997.
Before she had done gymnastics for 2 years at Ármann. She was the first cycle of a new dance
department of the Arts Academy of Iceland and graduated in 2009 after having done an exchange in Ecole superior des arts de Cirque in Bruxelles Belgium.
Sigríður started dancing with Shalala (company of Erna Ómarsdóttir) in 2009 joining them in the
production of “Teach us to outgrow our madness” The piece premiered in the Antipode-festival in
Brest and has been touring since, in France, Belgium Holland, UK, Italy, Iceland …etc
She is a part of the Bristol Ninja Cava Crew, DF-Krummi and a part of the choreographic duo of
Sigga og Snædís. In 2010 Sigríður choreographed the piece “Colorblind” for the Polish Dance
Company Silesian Dance Theater. The piece premiered in Bytom Poland and was also performed in
Reykjavík Iceland and Warsaw.
Last production Sigríður joined the Icelandic dance company in Transaquainia- Into thin air. Now
making a new piece for the Icelandic Dancecompany that premieres in the City Theater on the 4th of March. Sigríður received the Prologos-grant of the National Theater for the creation of “White for decay”
In the spring of 2008 she made the danceshortfilm Uniform Sierra.
Uniform Sierra won “Best film” in Actefestival in Bilbao Spain and received the peoples choice
award in Reykjavík short film festival. Since then the film has been shown in festivals in Iceland,
Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Norway, and Sweden. Uniform Sierra was selected as a part of the
Australian Biennial ReelDance festival. In the summer of 2010 the film was screened all major
cities in Australia and New Zealand
